SAFRUDI brings empowerment to marginalized producers and
artisans through its Social Enterprise Program.
Following a fair trading system, it assists some 50 small
handicraft-producing families and groups by providing market and
financial assistance, as well as education and skills
development trainings to help them evolve into self-reliant
community enterprises.
As a marketing arm, the organization is able to showcase the
ingenuity and artistry of Filipino craftsmen in international
trade fairs, and has carved for them a regular market in Europe,
North America and the Asia Pacific under the trade name, SAFFY
Handicrafts. Locally,
similar product lines are offered through the ManoMano Fair
Trade Store to keep the products close to the hearts of
Filipinos.
The producers benefit from the Producer Development Program
where services in the form of product development assistance,
access-to-market, micro-financing, technical training and
incentives can be availed of.
At the Annual Producers’ Assembly (APA),
SAFRUDI gathers its producer-partners for partnership reviews,
craft workshops, fora and seminars on various issues affecting
the handicraft sector.
